Billing for Hyderabad's kirana and general stores.

Counter billing, khata and storage-and-shelf stock for Hyderabad shops, with the app in English and Hindi.

For household goods, Hyderabad's old commercial heart is Begum Bazaar. It sits in the Old City about half a kilometre from Naya Pul, close to the Musi river. It dates from the Qutb Shahi era, and the land is said to have been given to the city's merchants by Humda Begum, wife of Nizam Ali Khan, Asaf Jah II. It is often called the biggest commercial market in Hyderabad, trading in household goods at both retail and wholesale, and it is known for spices, brass and copper ware. It also has the city's second biggest fish market after Musheerabad. The lanes are famously congested, and the trade runs on bulk lots that end up as packets on neighbourhood shelves.

A short distance away, Moazzam Jahi Market was built between 1933 and 1935 by the City Improvement Board under Mir Osman Ali Khan. It was meant as a fruit market. The wholesale fruit trade moved out to Kothapet in the 1980s, and today it is a retail hub for fruit, vegetables and groceries. Across the river, Laad Bazaar near the Charminar is known for bangles, pearls and bridalwear rather than daily needs.

Vegetables for the city's shops come largely through market yards. Government price data lists Bowenpally among Hyderabad's APMC markets, trading around thirty commodities, mostly vegetables such as tomato, onion, potato and brinjal, alongside other city yards such as Gaddiannaram, Gudimalkapur and Secunderabad. There are also Rythu Bazars, government farmers' markets started in undivided Andhra Pradesh in 1999 and now run by Telangana, where small farmers sell directly to consumers. Erragadda has one. A neighbourhood vegetable seller in Hyderabad works between the wholesale yards on one side and these direct farmers' markets on the other.

Telugu and Urdu are both official languages in Hyderabad. In the 2011 census about 58 percent of residents gave Telugu as their first language, about 30 percent Urdu and about 5 percent Hindi, and most people are bilingual. Bazaar IQ's app is in English and Hindi. It is not in Telugu or Urdu, so it suits shops where whoever is billing reads English or Hindi.

Telangana GSTINs begin with 36. A regular dealer selling within the state charges CGST and SGST with HSN codes on the invoice. Many small shops are composition dealers or unregistered and only need a simple bill.

Bazaar IQ is built for the everyday counter. Stock bought in bulk from Begum Bazaar or a vegetable yard goes into storage and moves to the shelf when it is put out, so the two are counted separately. Regulars who settle weekly or monthly get a khata balance updated with every bill. Packaged goods scan with the phone camera, and anything else can be billed by name.

Bulk from the bazaar, sold by the packet

A Hyderabad kirana often buys spices, dal and oil in bulk and sells them in small lots. Bazaar IQ records the bulk purchase into storage. As goods go onto the shelf, they move to display. Inventory shows both counts, so the owner knows when to reorder.

The weekly and monthly account

Neighbourhood regulars buy on credit and pay at the end of the week or month. Khata is built into billing. Choose the customer, mark the bill as credit, and the balance updates. When they pay, the payment comes off the same account.

Staff, expenses and the end of the day

Each staff member logs in with their own account and sees only the screens the owner allows. The owner gets an alert when staff void a bill or delete an item. Shop expenses and staff salary can be recorded in the same app, and the dashboard shows the day’s sales, credit and expenses together.

For GST, print tax invoices, a Bill of Supply or a plain cash memo depending on registration. Start a 14-day free trial, no card needed, or contact us.

Questions from shops in Hyderabad

Is Bazaar IQ available in Telugu or Urdu?

Not today. For Hyderabad shops the app is available in English and Hindi. It also has Marathi and Gujarati, but not Telugu or Urdu.

Does it print GST invoices for a Telangana GSTIN?

Yes. Regular dealers get GST tax invoices with HSN codes and CGST and SGST shown separately. Telangana GSTINs start with 36. Composition shops get a Bill of Supply with the required composition line, and unregistered shops a plain cash memo.

I buy in bulk from Begum Bazaar. How do I track it?

Record the purchase as storage stock. When you put goods on the shelf, move them to display. Bazaar IQ keeps both counts, so you can see what is out front and what is still in the godown.

What happens if the internet goes down at the counter?

An open billing screen keeps working without a connection. Bills made while offline sync when the network returns.
